2. Information article regarding the Roswell High School First Place Winners at the 12th
Annual Technology Competition 2013.
Congratulations go
to the Roswell High School students, Will
Biddy and Noah Broadway, for taking FIRST PLACE in the Fulton County Technology Competition. January 26, 2013.
Noah and Will
entered the Tech Competition on behalf of the Advanced WebDesign Team which also
includes Averi Donaldson and Ben Ehrenhaldt.
The Advanced WebDev Team is tasked with
not only designing and maintaining the Roswell High School Web Site, but they must also develop at least one project outside the school.
This year, the WebDev Team chose to develop a site for the Society of the Lees of Virginia, a non-profit organization that traces
its roots to Richard Henry
Lee, Signer of the Declaration of Independence.
What makes the Lee Society Web Site so special is the use of Joomla
technology, a
web-based content management system. The students taught
themselves how to implement the technology and went on to assist in setting up
the hosting account as well. Additionally, Joomla is a highly touted skillset to have when interviewing for
Web Developer jobs!
Roswell’s WebDev Team will compete next in the State
of Georgia Technology Competition to be held in March! The
team’s teacher, Mr. Ken Lee, has always said that "Roswell rocks!" Now, Roswell
rocks in technology as well!
3. Many of our technology competition winners
have been taught by two of our outstanding staff, Mr. Carl Scott, the RHS Broadcast Studio, and Mr. Ken
Lee, the RHS web site. In
addition, Mr. Scott and
his students have won numerous awards as they produce phenomenal
broadcasts and instructional units in media production. This includes the Friday AM broadcasts, video
productions, live presentations and numerous media production projects using
technology which prepare students to become college and career ready.
4. Another winning program is taught by Mr. Tom Bishop, Career Tech,
as he instructs his students to accomplish great projects involving
robotics. This program is outstanding,
and the students have won numerous awards with their robots and other projects
which utilize technology.
5. With the upcoming purchases for Collection Development 2013,
the RHS Media Center
has made additional purchases of e-Books and DVDs as they relate to the use of technology tools,
skills and strategies. These resources
will be great additions for our students and staff to have available for
reading, research, innovative ideas and pleasure reading. These valuable resources will allow the
students and staff to complete their assignments Online as well as to read
Online with a variety of technology devices.
