5th
Grade—Living History Research Project
The 5th grade classes are currently working on a semester-long
project exploring different decades. Each class is assigned two decades
and their focus revolves around the living
representative of the decade. The project will culminate with a “Story
Corps-like” recording presenting the research for each decade and the stories
about the person from the
decade. On Digital Learning Day, students will use iPads to Facetime with some
of our “Decade Representatives.” Students will be interviewing them as a part
of the project.
We’re especially proud of our morning program and Digital Learning Day is a
perfect time to showcase it! The show is student produced, with 5th
graders running the
production
equipment and serving as on-air talent. In addition, we run three
student- produced iMovies on each show—an opening (the current one has a be fit
and Theme)
the Pledge of Allegiance, and a closing (showcases the current crew members.)
We also have a Word of the Week Feature with two vocabulary
words each week. Students perform different tasks related to the words and post
their answers on a blog on www.findleyoaksmediacenter.com
On Digital Learning Day, we will also showcase a Black History Month biography
and corresponding brief video.
